In South Huron...

The concept of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron was initiated by our community in June 1977, when concerned local citizens formed a Steering Committee, to examine the need for friendship support services for boys of single parent homes in South Huron, and in the northern portion of Middlesex and Grand Bend.

The first board meeting of South Huron Big Brothers Big Sisters was held in September of the same year, and in April of 1979 letters of Patent were granted. By 1982 it was apparent there was also a service need for girls.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron became the existing non-profit, charitable agency in June 1982.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron provides mentoring programs to children throughout our large rural service area. Due to an increased need within our communities, we now provide services which are no longer restricted to single parent families - applications are accepted from all families with children in need.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron provides service to Ailsa Craig, Bayfield, Brucefield, Centralia, Dashwood, Exeter, Grand Bend, Hensall, Huron Park, Lucan, Parkhill, Zurich and surrounding areas.
